Library Programs for Children – Winter 2009
- Toddler Storytime (ages 2-3)
- Calling all beginning walkers and talkers! Toddler storytime is a great way to get
introduced to a group experience. Activities include stories, singing songs and
fingerplays. Toddle on over to the library on Mondays or Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Registration is not required.
- Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5)
- Bring your preschooler to the library for stories, songs, finger plays, and a simple
craft activity. Storytime is an excellent way for young children to learn skills, such as
listening quietly and following instructions, that they will need in kindergarten.
Storytime is repeated on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Registration is not
required.
- Starlight Storytime
- Families and kids from 3-8 years old are invited to our Starlight Storytime for
bedtime stories, songs, and fun! Pajamas are encouraged! This program will be held at the
Crowell Public Library on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.
- Thrilling Thursday Movie Day
- Come and relax at the Crowell Public Library. We will be showing full length PG
feature films on the second Thursday of every month at 4pm. Please call the library for
specific titles. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Special Family Events – Winter 2009Special family events are designed to
involve the entire family to come together and experience all the library has to offer.
We offer a fun and exciting experiences for all to enjoy. Don’t miss these

- Teddy Bear Clinic
- What do you do when your teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal does not feel well?
Bring it to the Crowell Public Library, of course! Doctors from the Huntington Memorial
Hospital will be available in the Children's Department to check and diagnose your teddy
bear on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00pm. It will be a Beary special check-up for
all!
- Valentine Craft Day
- Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! Do you have someone special you would like
to make a card or a craft for? Join us at the library for our special Valentine Make-It
and Take-It Craft Day on Wednesday, February 11. Children, ages 3 and up, are invited to
the public library to make valentine crafts by dropping in any time between 3pm and 6pm.
Helpers and supplies will be on hand. Registration is not required.
- Royal Tea & Storytime
- Here ye, Here ye, boys and girls of the land are cordially invited to attend the
Royal Tea and Storytime at the Crowell Public Library. This exciting event will take
place on February 28, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 p.m. Come and meet the Queen and
Princesses of the Pasadena Tournament of the Royal Roses Court. You will be enchanted by
stories of princes and princesses and also be given the opportunity to ask questions and
pose for pictures, so don’t forget your cameras. All those in attendance will
receive a special crown. Your majesties will be the royal envy of all your friends. No
registration required.
- Read Across America @ Crowell Library
- Come to the library and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday for a special evening
storytime be held at the Crowell Public Library on Monday, March 2, at 7pm. It will be a
“Seussical” Night to remember!
- Family Nutrition Workshop
- Calling all families! March is National Nutrition Month. In celebration of this
month, we will have the staff of Huntington Memorial Hospital come and share the
importance of good nutrition and what it takes to keep our bodies healthy on Sunday,
March 8, from 2:00-3:00 pm. There will be coloring and activity sheets for children as
well as a healthy snack! So come and enjoy this delectable workshop!
- Happy Birthday, Sparky the Fire Dog!
- Sparky the fire dog is having a birthday! Come celebrate with us and the San Marino
fire department on Saturday, March 14, at 2pm. There will be a special visit from Sparky
and the fire truck, so bring your camera!
